Thousands march in Harare to protest against Robert Mugabe

Demonstration organised by opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai is biggest in years as Zimbabwe’s economic problems worsen
In one of the biggest protests seen in Zimbabwe in recent years, thousands of opposition supporters marched in the capital to denounce Robert Mugabe’s alleged misrule.

Mostly wearing the red colours of the main opposition MDC-T party, marchers in Harare chanted songs denouncing the 92-year-old president, who recently said he had no plans to step down.

Such huge demonstrations are rare in Zimbabwe, where police routinely use force to break up opposition protests.

Police had initially banned Thursday’s march before a court overturned the ban. The opposition leader, Morgan Tsvangirai, who shared power with Mugabe for five years before losing disputed elections in 2013, organised the march.

Women with children strapped to their backs joined marchers carrying placards demanding that Mugabe step down. He has been in power since independence from white minority rule in 1980.

Some marchers carried banners reading “Old clueless Mugabe must go”. “Where is our $15bn dollars?” read one placard, in reference to recent statements by Mugabe that $15bn worth of diamonds had been looted in eastern Zimbabwe.

Another placard read “Where are our 2.2m jobs?” referring to Mugabe’s 2013 election pledge to create jobs.

Zimbabwe is battling a worsening economic decline, highlighted by company closures and growing unemployment.

Mugabe has previously said he wouldn’t resign, adding that he would rule “until God says come”.

Kah Walla Speaks

C.P.P's Kah Walla and other militants were arrested on April 8, 2016 for wearing black and taking to the streets of Yaounde to denounce limited water, electricity, government change and other basic needs in Cameroon.

They were released hours later and Kah Walla (the President of the Cameroon's People's Party) took to Facebook to share this...

"WE'RE FREE!!!!
Thank you so much to all of you who put pressure on the Cameroonian government today from within and without Cameroon. Thanks to your activism we are FREE!
All 12 of us who were arrested this morning - for wearing black - were released about an hour ago. The government accused us of rebellion, inciting insurrection and inciting revolt. Why? Because we were wanting to distribute flyers (no one had actually distributed any) that asked Cameroonians to ‪#‎WearBlackThis‬ Friday and to Pray for the future of Cameroon!

10 people were arrested while they were having breakfast. My colleague Bergeline Domou and I were arrested when we went to find out why our colleagues had been arrested.
All of you did a fantastic job in driving the internet campaign, contacting local and international media and a big thank you to the people who came down to the station and made some noise.
We are in the very first steps of bringing to a close the oppressive regime that has been keeping Cameroon down for the last 34 years. What is happening now is predictable from this regime. It reinforces us in our convictions and about our methods.
Without violence, but with determination, action, creativity and consistency we will bring down this regime and begin building a new foundation for Cameroon.
Face any fear you may have and join us. Most definitely we will all be WEARING BLACK NEXT FRIDAY! Joins Us!"

Donald Trump's supporter yells ‘Go back to Africa’ to protesters, black woman replies ‘Ya’ll brought us here’

"GO BACK TO AFRICA.”

That’s what a Donald Trump supporter was caught on camera yelling at Black Lives Matter protesters outside of a rally for Republican frontrunner Donald Trump in Cleveland over the weekend.

MSNBC‘s national reporter Tony Dokoupil tweeted footage of the moment Saturday afternoon. The incident was another example of the growing racial tension between people on both sides of Trump’s candidacy.

–Trump Supporter Who Sucker-Punched Protester: Next Time, We May ‘Kill Him’–
The clip is cut off in the very beginning, but it appears the protester says “If you (protesters) call yourselves African-American, go back to Africa!”

He then follows up with, “If you’re an African first, go back to Africa!”

–Trump on Violence from His Supporters: ‘They Have Anger That’s Unbelievable’–
He then repeats the line for good measure.

An African-American woman approaches the supporter (donned in camo-hoodie and a baseball cap) and appears to mouth, “Ya’ll brought us here.”

Another woman can be heard shouting “Go back to Europe,” presumably to the Trump supporter.

Friday, Trump canceled his planned rally in Chicago due to the overwhelming presence of protesters at the University of Illinois-Chicago.

DONALD TRUMP RALLY POSTPONED

A Donald Trump rally in Chicago has been postponed for safety reasons due to protest activity.

The announcement that Trump would postpone the rally for another day led the crowd inside the University of Illinois at Chicago Pavilion to break out into raucous cheers.

Protesters rushed the arena floor in jubilant celebration. Many jumped up and down, with arms up in the air, shouting "Bernie! Bernie!" and "We stopped Trump!"
