C.P.P's Kah Walla and other militants were arrested on April 8, 2016 for wearing black and taking to the streets of Yaounde to denounce limited water, electricity, government change and other basic needs in Cameroon.
They were released hours later and Kah Walla (the President of the Cameroon's People's Party) took to Facebook to share this...
"WE'RE FREE!!!!
Thank you so much to all of you who put pressure on the Cameroonian government today from within and without Cameroon. Thanks to your activism we are FREE!
All 12 of us who were arrested this morning - for wearing black - were released about an hour ago. The government accused us of rebellion, inciting insurrection and inciting revolt. Why? Because we were wanting to distribute flyers (no one had actually distributed any) that asked Cameroonians to #WearBlackThis Friday and to Pray for the future of Cameroon!
10 people were arrested while they were having breakfast. My colleague Bergeline Domou and I were arrested when we went to find out why our colleagues had been arrested.
All of you did a fantastic job in driving the internet campaign, contacting local and international media and a big thank you to the people who came down to the station and made some noise.
We are in the very first steps of bringing to a close the oppressive regime that has been keeping Cameroon down for the last 34 years. What is happening now is predictable from this regime. It reinforces us in our convictions and about our methods.
Without violence, but with determination, action, creativity and consistency we will bring down this regime and begin building a new foundation for Cameroon.
Face any fear you may have and join us. Most definitely we will all be WEARING BLACK NEXT FRIDAY! Joins Us!"
