KUMBA HOSPITAL LEARNS FROM LAQUINTINI'S MISTAKES

Dr. Ebongo Zacks Nanje, Director of Kumba District Hospital, has instructed medical practitioners and nurses of the facility to practice what he described as “Post Paid Service.” It entails that doctors of the hospital in given circumstances can attend to emergency patients even when they cannot immediately afford payment.

The move is in a bid to prevent the recent 'Laquintinie-type' tragedy which saw a pregnant Monique Koumate loosing her life and that of her twins in Douala.

Dr. Ebongo, an ophthalmologist, announced the adjustment in Kumba, Wednesday March 16, while speaking at the conference hall of the hospital as he received New Year wishes from his staff.

Ebongo said no one should be deprived life because he or she cannot instantaneously afford medical payments. He urged his doctors to be always ready to go to the theatre when the need to save lives arises, adding that the hospital administration will know how to recover its debts after the patient is treated.

“The hospital is up and kicking today because all of us have worked hard and we should not relent our efforts by providing the much needed health care to our patients,” Ebongo said.
